Gabriel Bastos, a member of CASAS, was recently featured as a guest in a newly released documentary. The short film, “The History of the Society of Small Farmers and Squatters of Pedra Lisa”, produced by the Federation of Urban and Rural Residents’ Associations of Japeri (FAMEJA), chronicles the story of one of the first rural workers’ associations in the state of Rio de Janeiro. Founded in 1948, this association’s history is deeply intertwined with the early peasant movement in the state of Rio de Janeiro.
