Abstract: In this article, I analyze the memorialistic dynamics of repressive events carried out after the coup of 1964, whose target was peasant populations in a locality known as Pedra Lisa, currently in the municipality of Japeri, where land struggles led by an association of rural workers took place, connected with other peasant mobilizations in the Baixada Fluminense in an earlier period. It is observed that, for these populations, repression began immediately after the 1964 coup, also manifesting in less explicit ways than conventionally known, such as the appropriation of land from former leaders with the support of the dictatorial regime. These events generate memorialistic dynamics that change over time, but are always marked by fear and forced attitudes of forgetfulness.
