In line with our manifesto principles of engaging in critical agrarian debates, strengthening the co-production of knowledge and broadening the scope of dissemination, we are launching this new initiative: CASAS’ Research Talks. This podcast invites our members to address the key issues of their scholar-activist practice in a modern and popular format.
The Second Episode of our CASAS Podcast Series is Part I of the conversation with Mnqobi Ngubane, CASAS member and the producer of the documentary Mathonga Elizwe – Spirits of the Land which captures one of the most critical and complex issues in contemporary South Africa—land reform.
This powerful documentary goes beyond political rhetoric to show the personal stakes, struggles, and resilience of those fighting for their rightful land. Directed by Tsogo Kupa and produced by Mnqobi Ngubane, Premilla Murcott, and Rehad Desai, this film unpacks the deeply contested process of land restitution in South Africa, revealing the voices of both the claimants and those resisting change.
CASAS’ member Antoinette Danebaï Lamana is the host of this episode.
