Ali D. Kaba is a Ph.D. student at American University. His research interests include the political economy of customary land and resource governance, with a focus on territoriality, identity, peace, conflict, and sustainability. Ali previously worked as a Program Director and Senior Researcher at the Sustainable Development Institute (SDI), a Liberian-based NGO committed to transforming decision-making processes relating to land and natural resources. Ali has also worked with a wide variety of national and international institutions, including government agencies in Liberia and State governments in Nigeria. He has written numerous briefs and articles and co-authored two books, including a comprehensive study on customary land rights in Liberia, Uganda, and Mozambique. Ali was also a two-year fellow of the Comparative Post-Conflict Recovery Project (CPRP) at the University of Emory.
