Abstract: South Africa’s recurring xenophobic violence is not an isolated outbreak but a symptom of deeper structural fractures — economic inequality, political scapegoating, and the legacy of sub-imperial dominance. As retaliatory boycotts and legal challenges mount across Africa, the crisis threatens continental unity. The path forward demands both protection for migrants and accountability for the governance failures that force people to flee their homes in the first place.
