From July 1 to 10, the 8th International Writeshop in Critical Agrarian Studies and Scholar-Activism took place in Beijing. The Writeshop is organised by The Journal of Peasant Studies, the College of Humanities and Development Studies of China Agricultural University, the Erasmus Distinguished Professor Program, the Institute for Poverty, Land and Agrarian Studies at the University of the Western Cape and CASAS. This edition is once again hosted by the College of Humanities and Development Studies, China Agricultural University.












Participants included 52 young scholars and 11 instructors from 30 countries and regions from the Global South. The Writeshop aims to reduce the academic inequalities between the North and South by providing a two weeks of systematic training to enhance research capabilities, broaden their academic horizons, and promote more equal knowledge exchange with scholars from the Global North.
