In a significant milestone, we convened our first in-person General Assembly last October at the esteemed College of Humanities and Development Studies (COHD) of the China Agricultural University in Beijing. The assembly was held as a pre-activity to the Critical Agrarian Studies in the 21st Century – International Conference, a collaborative effort by COHD, The Journal of Peasant Studies (JPS), Transnational Institute (TNI), and CASAS. This conference marked a moment to remember, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of The Journal of Peasant Studies.
Our commitment to fostering a robust network of scholar-activists remains unwavering. Beyond the realm of critical agrarian studies, we extend our dedication to land struggles and agrarian social movements that amplify the voices of marginalized people and communities in the global South. Moreover, we reiterate our solid belief in solidarity among scholars from the global South.
